The SSRC is an independent, international, nonprofit organization. It fosters innovative research, nurtures new generations of social scientists, deepens how inquiry is practiced within and across disciplines, and mobilizes necessary knowledge on important public issues.
Melanie Adrian is Associate Professor at Carleton University in the Department of Law and Legal Studies. Her work has focused on the intersection of nationalism and belonging in minority religious communities in Europe and North America. Her most recent book is entitled, Religious Freedom at Risk: The EU, French Schools, and Why the Veil was Banned. She is the co-investigator of the Producing Islam(s) in Canada Workshop (https://www.mun.ca/relstudies/more/producingislams/).
