André Laliberté

André Laliberté is full professor at the School of Political Studies, University of Ottawa, where he teaches on comparative politics and the politics of China. He is an affiliated research fellow at the Center on Religion and Chinese Society at Purdue University, and in the summer of 2013, he was visiting researcher at the Groupe Sociétés, Religions, et Laïcité, in Paris. Recently, he has just co-edited with Rajeev Bhargava and Bruce Berman Secular States and Religious Diversity: Toleration and Accommodation (UBC Press, 2013), and written a number of articles and book chapters on religion and politics in China, Taiwan, and East Asia. His current research focuses on the secular state "with Chinese characteristics" in a comparative perspective.
