Michael J. Altman is an assistant professor in the department of religious studies at the University of Alabama. His first book, Heathen, Hindoo, Hindu: American Representations of India, 1721-1893 was published by Oxford University Press (2017). His research and writings range from American religious history and Asian religions in America to critical and postcolonial theory to theory and method in religious studies.
