J. Brent Crosson is assistant professor at the University of Texas—Austin. His work on religion, race, ethics, and secularism includes Experiments with Power: Obeah and the Remaking of Religion in Trinidad (University of Chicago Press, 2020), “The Impossibility of Liberal Secularism” (Method and Theory in the Study of Religion, 2018), and “Don’t Study People” (Anthropological Quarterly, 2020).
