Ira Chernus is Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder. He has author of, most recently, Apocalypse Management: Eisenhower and the Discourse of National Insecurity (Stanford UP, 2008), Monsters to Destroy: The Neoconservative War on Terror and Sin (Paradigm, 2006), and American Nonviolence: The History of an Idea (Orbis, 2004). He writes regularly for various websites, including Common Dreams, TomDispatch, Alternet, Truthout, Foreign Policy in Focus, and ReligionDispatches, in addition to his own blog.
