The Politics of Religion

On April 16-17, 2010, Macaulay Honors College of The City University of New York is hosting an international conference on The Politics of Religion.

The conference is strongly interdisciplinary and features two plenary speakers: on Friday, Susannah Heschel (Jewish studies, Dartmouth) will speak on “Remarkable Affinities: Biblical Scholarship, Gender, and the Emergence of Racial Theology,” and on Saturday, Steven Kruger (English and Medieval studies, Queens College) will give a talk on “Everyday Conversion.” The program also lists a number of panels, for example on “Clashes between Religion and Secularism” and “Biopolitics.”
