Maria E. Doerfler holds a JD from UCLA and a PhD from Duke. She serves as assistant professor in Yale University’s Department of Religious Studies. She spends a lot of time thinking, writing, and talking about interpretive strategies for authoritative texts, particularly those in and from late antiquity.
