Sumit Ganguly is a professor of political science and the director of research of the Center on American and Global Security at Indiana University, Bloomington, where he holds the Tagore Chair in Indian Cultures and Civilizations. He is the author, co-author, editor or co-editor of 15 books on South Asia. His most recent book (edited with Christine Fair) is Treading on Hallowed Grounds: Counterinsurgency Operations in Sacred Spaces (Oxford University Press, 2008).
