The centerpiece of the paper is data from an extensive online study of philosophers and non-philosophers. Through the Philosophical Personality website we collected cognitive reflection test (CRT) scores on over 5,000 participants, including nearly 1,000 with training in philosophy. We found that philosophical training is correlated with CRT score. It seems that even when we control for overall education level, philosophers are more reflective than their peers.
