James K.A. Smith, Professor of Philosophy at Calvin College, is currently teaching an undergraduate seminar on Charles Taylor’s A Secular Age, and he and his students will be blogging about the book as the semester progresses. The course, as Smith describes it, was conceived “with a view to discerning the ‘making of a philosopher’—considering how Taylor’s earlier work in philosophy of action, philosophy of social science, phenomenology, and hermeneutics enabled him to write the unique sort of book that is A Secular Age.”
