The Institute of Islamic Studies at the University of Toronto invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship on the study of Islam and Muslims in Canada. This postdoctoral fellow will be primarily responsible for pursuing independent scholarship and research on the study of Islam and Muslims in Canada. The postdoctoral fellow would also organize a monthly research-oriented workshop on the central theme; and support Institute research incubation on the central theme.

The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week for a full-time postdoctoral fellow recognizing that the needs of the employee’s research and training and the needs of the supervisor’s research program may require flexibility in the performance of the employee’s duties and hours of work.

Expected start date: August 15, 2019
Term: Two-year term, ending August 14, 2021

Required qualifications:
The successful applicant should have high level interdisciplinary analytic capability related to the theme, a demonstrated ability of independent research excellence, and the capacity to work collaboratively on a team of researchers. Applicants in the humanities and social sciences that examine the core thematic area are preferred. The final candidate must have a PhD by 1 July 2019.
