Mohamad Jarada

Mohamad Jarada is a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of California, Berkeley’s Department of Anthropology where he is finishing his dissertation, titled Who is the Subject of Civil Rights? Racialization, Police Power, and the Islamic Tradition. As of Fall 2022, he will be a UC President’s Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, Davis. His research concerns emergent forms of political, social, legal, and spiritual action forged within racialized religious communities through their encounters with police power in the United States. His broader research interests include American political and legal history; accounts of race and racialization; genealogies of security and police power; and theories of liberalism, rights, and politics.
