Todd Gitlin is Professor of Journalism and Chair of the Ph.D. Program in Communications at Columbia University. He is the author of twelve books, chiefly on media and recent America, including, most recently, The Bulldozer and the Big Tent: Blind Republicans, Lame Democrats, and the Recovery of American Ideals. He is currently working with Liel Leibovitz on a book about chosen peoples, to be published in 2010 by Simon & Schuster.
