Diane Shane Fruchtman, Assistant Professor of Religion at Rutgers University, is a medievalist historian of Christianity interested in rhetoric and the realities it helps construct, particularly in the realms of violence and martyrdom. She is currently working on her first book, Surviving Martyrdom: Living Martyrs in Late Antiquity and Beyond.
