Anupama Rao
Anupama Rao is Associate Professor of History at Barnard College, Columbia University. She is the author of The Caste Question: Dalits and the Politics of Modern India. She is currently working on a manuscript about caste and equality focused on the political thought of B. R. Ambedkar, and a book on colonial and postcolonial Bombay. Rao has held residential fellowships at the National Humanities Center, the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences (Stanford), and REWORK (Humboldt University, Berlin). She is Senior Editor, Comparative Studies in South Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
