The SSRC is an independent, international, nonprofit organization. It fosters innovative research, nurtures new generations of social scientists, deepens how inquiry is practiced within and across disciplines, and mobilizes necessary knowledge on important public issues.
Howard Adelman is a Research Professor at the Key Centre for Ethics, Law, Justice and Governance at Griffith University in Brisbane, Australia, where he is the Deputy-Director of the Australian Research Council Governance Research Network. He is currently completing a book (coauthored with Elazar Barkan) entitled Rites of Return (Princeton University Press) and a book (coauthored with Charles Sampford) on Military Intervention and Non-Intervention in the Twenty-First Century: An Australian Perspective (Routledge). His edited volume, Protracted Displacement in Asia: No Place to Call Home, was released in November 2008 by Ashgate.
