Lars Tønder is assistant professor of political science at Northwestern University. His research interests include early modern political thought, political theology, phenomenology, and new theories of democracy. Currently, his research focuses on two projects: one that rethinks the concept of tolerance, and another that expands the notion of pluralism. He is the co-editor of Radical democracy: Politics between abundance and lack" (Manchester University Press, 2006), and has published articles on issues of tolerance and democracy in journals such as theory & event, Culture and Politics, and Politologiske Studier.
