On October 7-9 the New York Theological Seminary will host “Religion in the Global City,” a conference on the role of congregations and communities of faith in the new globalized, urban milieu. From the brochure (pdf):

In this era of relentless globalization, the agenda for urban congregations is rapidly changing. These urban congregations and their neighborhoods are now part of a complex economic and political reality: the “global city.” President Obama has challenged each of us to expand our horizons and engage in a global conversation. We invite you to join prominent local scholars and church leaders to explore how our local actions are impacted by and in turn affect the new global city and its faith communities, with the goal of discerning the need for justice and planning transformative action in your congregation and community.
