William Elison is an associate professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He is the author of The Neighborhood of Gods: The Sacred and the Visible at the Margins of Mumbai (University of Chicago Press, 2018) and, along with Christian Lee Novetzke and Andy Rotman, of "Amar Akbar Anthony": Bollywood, Brotherhood, and the Nation (Harvard University Press, 2015).
