Nusrat S. Chowdhury writes on popular sovereignty and political communication. She is the author of Paradoxes of the Popular: Crowd Politics in Bangladesh (Stanford University Press 2019), her first book. Her research interests are in old and new forms of surveillance and development infrastructure in Bangladesh and their coemergence. She is an associate professor of anthropology at Amherst College.
