J. Barton Scott
J. Barton Scott is Professor of Historical Studies and the Study of Religion at University of Toronto. He is the author of Slandering the Sacred: Blasphemy Law and Religious Affect in Colonial India and Spiritual Despots: Modern Hinduism and the Genealogies of Self-Rule (both University of Chicago Press); he is currently working on a book about gurus culture in southern California in the years around World War II.
