Gerardo Martí

Gerardo Martí is the William R. Kenan, Jr. Professor of Sociology at Davidson College. An award-winning author and past president of both the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (SSSR) and the Association for the Sociology of Religion (ASR), his research investigates the intersections of religion, racialization, and political polarization within the context of social change. His most recent book, The Church Must Grow or Perish: Robert H. Schuller and the Business of American Christianity, (Wm. B. Eerdmans, 2025), co-authored with Mark Mulder, explores the entrepreneurial evolution of modern ecclesial ministry.
