The Social Science Research Council (SSRC) seeks a Program Officer to support the development and implementation of a digital platform on religion in international affairs and agenda-setting activities on this topic, while also supporting other aspects of the SSRC’s work.
Since 2007, the Council’s Program on Religion and the Public Sphere has developed a range of projects that seek to foster engagement and cooperation among social scientists and others by supporting new and innovative scholarship and elevating the quality of both academic and public discussion. In partnership with the Program Directors for the Religion and the Public Sphere program, the Program Officer will play a key role in the Program’s development of a new digital platform that will serve as a resource for researchers, educators, journalists, practitioners, and members of the public on the ways in which religion shapes, and is shaped by, international relations and the transnational flows of people and ideas. Additionally, the Program Officer will support and mobilize working groups and networks to address new topics and shape future research agendas on these topics. Support for this project is provided by the Henry Luce Foundation.
Requirements for this position include a PhD in one of the social sciences, the humanities, or a closely related field and substantial knowledge and research experience in the area of religion in international affairs.
