The latest issue of the journal of the Jewish Museum Berlin features an article by Yasemin Shooman, a German historian, comparing anti-Muslim racism (Islamophobia) and antisemitism:

No one in their right mind would suggest that the current situation of Muslims in Europe is comparable to the persecution and murder of the Jews under National Socialism. But antisemitism manifests itself at levels below the threshold of pogroms, forced exile and genocide. On the level of public debate, stereotypes and their function in majority culture, it is worth venturing a comparison.
