Esra Özyürek is professor in European anthropology and chair in contemporary Turkish studies at the European Institute, London School of Economics. She is the author of Nostalgia for the Modern: State Secularism and Everyday Politics in Turkey (2007) and Being German, Becoming Muslim: Race and Religion in the New Europe (2014).
